Episode 4: Iwa & One Pot Wonder
Do you have flabby arms? Do not fret, check out this episode where we show you how we tone our triceps up with some easy exercises. My special guest this week is yummy mummy Iwa @girlwzthedragontattoo. She is my biggest inspiration when it comes to knowing a mummy with a hot bod. My jaw dropped when I first saw here at the gym in her midriff top doing quick reps of cleans and presses with her barbells. She has a ripped core, toned arms and legs that goes on forever. I was smitten, not in a ...
One Pot Wonder – (Spicy) Mediterranean Chicken Sausage Stew
If you are new to cooking but want to cook to impress, I suggest you master a simple dish that's stunning to look at and delicious at the same time. This is one such recipe that you could attempt, while still looking sexy and in control. For the lazy cook too, this makes for a no-brainer recipe as you would only require 1 pot and its nearly about throwing all the ingredients into the pot, cover and simmer and voila, a dinner is served complete with protein and vegetables.
My guest Iwa wanted ...
Steffles’ Asian Fish or Crab Cakes
Just like my marriage, I love marrying East with West. One ventures into new territories of sight, taste, sound and mind, without losing your own heritage. So here's a western fish cakes recipe made with asian seasoning and herbs. The cakes can be made 1 day in advance and fried just before serving. Served with a Salsa dressed in Thai Sweet Chili Sauce, this makes a great starter or double it up for mains. This is so good, cook it for your partner when you need to regain back some ...
Quick Pickled Vegetables
I love quickies! It satisfies an urge but yet urgent and exciting. Yes we are talking about pickled vegetables :-) This is quick because it doesn't have to sit in the jar to be fermented. Just 2 hours in the fridge and it 's enough to infuse the tangy sweet taste to the raw vegetables while it maintains it crunch to satisfy the urge.
I really fell in love with pickled veg when I was in Kyoto 2015 on one of our compulsory couple trips annually. Without the kids, we get to enjoy each ...
Rainbow Salad with Hummus Avocado Dip / Dressing
There's always a story behind a new recipe creation. This one is inspired by 2 events.
Firstly a hostess that 's trying her best to be on a Paleo diet but wanted more Asian familiar recipes, and secondly, the plantbased foodporn feeds I have been getting on my IG account. Presenting vegetables in a variety of colours can be a real turn on I reckon.
So here you go.
Smoky Shakshuka
This recipe is inspired from one of my favorite cookbook author, Yotam Ottolenghi. What I like about this recipe is it can be vegetarian, without the bacon. It can also be a paleo, high protein diet.
While we are at this, it is also gluten-free and lactose-free :) Besides that it also photographs stunningly, the velvety red tomato contrasting against the silky white and soft runny egg yolks.
My version is a smoky sexy one, tuned it up using smoked paprika and liquid smoke. If you ...
Vegetarian Pad Thai Salad
This salad was inspired by the PS Cafe version but mine here is presented like how you would eat the actual noodle Pad Thai in most Thai restaurants :) There are many alternatives to this, but I like the version served using a dressing very similar to the Green Papaya Salad. This salad can be made vegan, vegetarian, paleo or gluten free. I will post a vegetarian version, and refer to my notes
below how to make it to suit your diet preference. You can also add other kinds of ...
Nesu Dengaku – Grilled Eggplant with Miso
Eggplant or aubergine is a vegetarian delight for its dense texture, a great alternative to "meat ". However, when cooked, it transform to a silky smooth texture. They remind me of men sometimes, macho looking outside but really a mushy teddy bear inside. I didn't like the texture of this lovely purple fruit (yes its actually classified as a fruit!) when I was a child but has come to love it now.
However, this royal purple highness tends to absorb lots of oil when cooking. So here's ...
Poh’s Best Banana Cake in the World
I have been frequently asked for a nice cake recipe to bake. And this recipe is definitely one I have repeatedly shared (besides Nigela's Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf). I am no expert when it comes to baking but I am a baking porn fan. This one is from Poh's Kitchen recipe book. Poh was the first runner up in the Aussie Masterchef series.
I like my cake naked, without the icing, but if you are feeling a little naughty, the lemon icing pairs perfectly. Yes it may not be gluten-free, vegan ...
No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies
I love experimenting! Faddish or not, it creates excitement. We all need an injection of fun in an otherwise boring week. Just like in relationships, we need to keep evolving to stay present. This recipe was my first venture into Paleo dessert. I can't believe how easy it is to make these until I tried it, and even better to know that they are healthy and tasty too. Never been a fan of dates but when blended with nuts and chocolates, it miraculously transformed into DILE (Dates I ...
