If the name itself isn’t obvious enough why, the other more important objective is about empowering women, and especially mums because being a mother doesn’t mean you stop being you. I have seen many mothers lose themselves in their nonstop work that motherhood entails, neglect themselves in return. They become a 24 hour mum to their kids, and often even to their husband. We feel guilty taking time out for ourselves instead of spending time with our children because we don’t prioritise them over our own desires. We should stop feeling that way.
Experts say it’s no surprise that women forget – or even disregard – the need to take care of themselves. There is some maternal ideal of being self-sacrificing that just isn’t consistent with having time for yourself.
The key is for women to recognize the difference between being selfish in a bad way and being selfish in a healthy way.
You have to know yourself and know what works for you. For some, that might be exercise. Others may find a mental boost from meditation, or listening to music, or taking a bubble bath.
My “me time or self care” is exercise. And I want to inspire you to do the same!
Because exercising makes you feel strong, gives you energy and will also give you confidence in your own body. Also being healthier and having more energy makes it a real joy to connect with my children and my husband.
Foodiefitmum is about empowering and inspiring mothers so they can balance a career, motherhood and having their “me time” to look good, feel good and have some fun.
Foodiefitmum also encourages mothers to enjoy being in the kitchen, trying out quick, easy new recipes that are healthier for their families.
If we take time to care about our own health, I believe we will always be stronger and happier for our family.
