Hulk’s Power Balls

Feeling like some super power to energize my Spartan team mates for Race Day. So I decided to make these Hulk-friendly balls!

Matcha (green tea powder) is full of antioxidants and coupled with dates and almonds, makes a tasty snack worthy of warriors. Heck, if you have little ones, tell them Green Arrow & Green Lantern live on them for their supernatural powers and hopefully wane them off the unhealthy stuff too! Besides Superheroes, this recipe is also Paleo, Vegan and Vegetarian friendly.

Hulk's Power Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 cup raw almonds or nuts of choice
  • 1 tablespoon coconut butter (or use ¼ cup desiccated coconut)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder
  • (Optional) 1 tbsp protein powder of choice
  • ¼ cup desiccated coconut (for rolling)
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder (for rolling)

Method

  1. Pour all ingredients in a heavy duty micro processor and blitz till all fine for about 3-5 minutes. Mixture should resemble fine breadcrumbs. If it feels too dry, add coconut oil by 1/2 tsp.
  2. Once ready, you should be able to pinch the mixture into small palmful. As you pinch and massage them, the mixture will naturally stick together.
  3. Roll them into bite-sized balls.
  4. If using the coating, mix the desiccated coconut with green tea powder evenly before you roll the balls into them.
  5. Eat them immediately or refrigerate for future protein snacks!
