Easy Yummy Flatbreads!!

This recipe is so easy to whip up, really there’s no excuse not to make fresh breads to soak up your curries or whenever you feel like it. I am usually hopeless at making bread but I can ace this. Great recipe for bread-idiots like me. Also known as naan, this bread is a staple on our kitchen table and its a great recipe to get the kids involved to make this together.

Domestic goddesses – Ella, Misha and Skye

Skye, (age 9) knows the recipe by heart now. I am also comforted by the idea that she would not starve when is in boarding school – at least she will have bread to eat 🙂

Easy Flatbreads (Garlic Herb Butter)

Ingredients

  • 350g Self Raising Flour, plus extra for dusting
  • Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 350g natural full fat yogurt

Method

  1. All all the flatbread ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix together with a spoon, then use your hands to bring them all together.
  2. Dust your work surface with some flour, tip the dough out and knead for a few minutes (3 minutes) to bring it all together.
  3. Put the dough into a flour dusted bowl and cover with a plate, rest for a least 30 minutes.
  4. Dust the work surface with flour, divide the dough into smaller golf ball portions. With your hands, pat and flatten the dough, then use a rolling pin to roll each out.
  5. Use a knife and score each gently.
  6. On a heated grill or griddled pan, cook each one for 1-2 minutes each side before turning, or until you get charred marks and puffed up.
  7. Brush the flatbread with the Garlic Herb Butter if using.
  8. To make the Garlic & Herb Butter, heat the butter in a microwave, then stir through the chopped garlic and herbs. Set aside until ready to use.
